Materials & Care

Materials

Sterling Silver is made of 92.5% pure silver mixed with 7.5% alloy metals (most commonly copper). Pure silver on its own is too soft for jewelry, so this small amount of copper gives Sterling Silver its strength and durability, making it perfect for everyday wear.

Gold-filled metal is a high quality and durable alternative to solid gold. It is made by bonding a thick layer of real gold to a base metal under high pressure. Unlike gold-plated or gold vermeil, gold-filled jewelry will not lose its color, tarnish easily, or turn your skin green—making it an excellent option for those with sensitive skin.

Care

All Kellie Ann pieces are made using sterling silver, fine silver and gold-filled metal because they are timeless, durable and designed to last a lifetime with proper care. This means that while each piece is waterproof, avoiding exposure to harsh chemicals such as chlorine, cleaning products, perfumes and lotions will help maintain its shine and minimize tarnishing.

It is important to remember that all jewelry, regardless of material, will naturally tarnish or oxidize over time. However, sterling silver and gold-filled metals are designed for longevity and are easy to care for. To clean your jewelry pieces, wipe them with a soft cloth such as a jewelry cloth, lens cloth or flannel. For a deeper clean, mix a small amount of mild dish soap with warm water and gently scrub your jewelry to remove any buildup. Be sure to dry your jewelry thoroughly before storing to help maintain its shine.
